Yesterday, I had the honor of photographing Holly Seeley’s Sand Dance Project in beautiful Zuma Beach. It was a cloudy morning, but I’m of course very inspired by cloudy weather and its mysterious vibe – especially when it’s on the beach and there are insanely awesome dancers involved!
The Sand Dance Project explained, from the creator’s website: “Sand Dance Project is a post-modern contemporary dance and conceptual art initiative by choreographer Holly Seeley. Through the use of drone camera technology, digital media platforms, and live performances, Holly seeks to reach audiences on social media platforms and in public spaces with textural dance created through manipulation of physical elements. Part of the artistic process involves capturing and investigating the symbols and kinetic signatures that dancers leave behind in the physical world.””
